Facebook's Censorship of Education about Consent in 2018-2021

I. My Little Yoni (parenting support)

In October, 2021, Facebook rejected these ads by My Little Yoni promoting consent in the United States. Facebook classified the ad as "Adult Products and Services."

The text for the ads had read in captions:

"consent education is crucial! did you know only 7 states in the usa require consent to be included in their sex ed curriculum in schools? 🙀 if this doesn’t sound off the alarms on the dire situation we face in the usa when it comes to adequately preparing our youth, you might want to read that statistic again!! 👆🏽 this is one of the many reasons why we are dedicated to providing parents & kids with quality, doctor approved sex education — as illustrated in our new book: “all about consent.” learn more, link in bio 🤓 👆🏽"

II. Love Matters Global Network (health education network of nonprofits)

Facebook also rejected educational ads promoting consent (to prevent sexual assault), and speaking out about sexual harassment, by Love Matters Kenya. Facebook misclassified the consent ad as "escort services" and the harassment educational as "porn."

Facebook rejected the Love Matters Global Network's educational ads 1,792 times in less than five years. Additional examples of ads that Facebook rejected for the Love Matters nonprofits are included below.
